3-Aminopropanesulfonic acid sodium salt (APS) is a surfactant that is used in the formulation of liquid detergents. It is an ionic compound with a covalent bond to sodium, which gives it the ability to act as an alkaline or acidic substance depending on the pH of the environment. 3-Aminopropanesulfonic acid sodium salt has been shown to be a reversible inhibitor of cholinesterase and receptor antagonists for NMDA receptors.
3-Aminopropanesulfonic acid sodium salt has been shown to be effective against inflammation, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and asthma.
