Description

Acetyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester is an inhibitor of group p2 phosphatases that is used to study the in vivo function of these enzymes. Acetyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester binds to the phosphate groups on the enzyme and blocks the enzyme’s catalytic site, inhibiting its activity. Acetyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester has a chemical structure that includes a hydroxyl group, which allows it to form stable complexes with metal ions such as potassium ion. This makes it non-competitive against other inhibitors, such as lysine residues, that are also capable of forming stable complexes with metal ions.
