Description:
Acetyl-L-aspartic acid a-methyl ester (AAAME) is an analog of the naturally occurring amino acid L-aspartic acid. AAAME has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of guanine, and it has been shown to bind to the major groove of DNA. The UV absorption spectrum shows that AAAME absorbs in the range of 260 nm to 300 nm. The proton NMR spectrum shows AAAME is a prototropic molecule with three tautomers: the carboxylic group, the carboxylate ion, and the anhydrous form.
