Description:
Acetyl-S-trityl-L-cysteine is an antioxidant that has been shown to inhibit the release of proinflammatory cytokines. It also inhibits HIV infection in human macrophages and astrocytes, as well as neurodegenerative diseases. Acetyl-S-trityl-L-cysteine is a prodrug that must be converted to its active form, S-trityl cysteine, by esterases. This active compound has been shown to have anti-HIV activities and may be used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
