Acetyl-DL-proline is a hydrogen bond donor that can form an amide bond with carboxylic acid groups. It has a hydroxyl group and a methoxy group, which are reactive under certain conditions. Acetyl-DL-proline is used in the preparation of fatty acids for chemical analyses, as well as in the synthesis of proteins. This molecule has been shown to have conformational properties that depend on intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Acetyl-DL-proline also has the ability to react with methoxy groups and protonate fatty acids, which may be due to its electron donating properties.
