Description

S-Acetylthioglycolic acid pentafluorophenyl ester is a trifluoroacetic acid ester of thioglycolic acid. It is an inhibitor of epidermal growth factor and has been shown to be reactive with DNA, which may be due to the presence of a carboxylic acid group. S-Acetylthioglycolic acid pentafluorophenyl ester has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. It also binds to receptors for epidermal growth factor (EGF), inhibiting cell proliferation by preventing the binding of EGF to its receptor.
