Product Information
- L-Tyr(Ac)-OH
- H-Tyr(Ac)-OH
- O-acetyltyrosine
- O-acetyl-D-tyrosine
O-Acetyl-L-tyrosine is an amino acid that can reversibly bind to the lysine residues of proteins. It is a precursor for acetylation reactions and can be used in the synthesis of other amino acids. O-Acetyl-L-tyrosine also has growth-promoting activity and is capable of activating enzymes involved in amino acid transport, modifications, and synthesis. This compound also binds to potassium phosphate, which may lead to its hydroxyl group being oxidized to a carboxylic acid. The helical structure of O-acetyl-L-tyrosine has been shown to be denatured by increasing substrate concentration or by adding strong acids such as hydrochloric acid.
O-Acetyl-L tyrosine is also used in the analysis of amino acids. The acetylation reaction that occurs with this compound can be used as a marker for the presence of particular types of amino acids.
