- N-acetyl-DL-aspartic acid
The N-acetyl-DL-aspartic acid is an activating amino acid that is not found in the human body. It has been shown to be effective for the treatment of age-matched control subjects with immobilization, improving their nerve function tests and membrane potential. The N-acetyl-DL-aspartic acid activates nerve cells by increasing the membrane potential and also reduces peroxide formation in the cell. This amino acid has also been used to treat hepatic encephalopathy, schistosomiasis, and other diseases of the central nervous system.
