Description:
D-2-Amino-5-phenylpentanoic acid is an analog of the natural amino acid β-amino acid. It is a cyclodepsipeptide that is synthesized by the synthetic route, through the use of hydrochloric acid, hydrogenated, and saponified. D-2-Amino-5-phenylpentanoic acid has been used as a monomer in asymmetric synthesis to produce a variety of analogs with varying substituents on its phenyl ring. This amino acid has also been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria.
