(S)-(+)-1-Amino-1-phenyl-2-methoxyethane is an inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) that blocks the binding of epidermal growth factor (EGF) to its receptor. This agent has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in a variety of cell lines, including lung cancer cells and breast cancer cells. The low permeability of this drug makes it more difficult for cancer cells to develop resistance to this compound. In addition, this drug is selective for EGFR over other receptors such as ErbB2, which may allow it to be used as a single agent therapy for some cancers.
