3-Amino-2-methylpyridine is a validated acetylating agent, which is stereoselective and thermodynamically stable. It reacts with nitro compounds to form an active analog that can be used as a pesticide. 3-Amino-2-methylpyridine also has the ability to inhibit protozoan parasites by binding to their bromodomain protein. The reaction yield for this compound is high, and it does not react in the presence of water or alcohols. 3-Amino-2-methylpyridine has been shown to have hydrogen bonding properties and contains functional groups such as amide, amine, and ether.
