Description:

4-Amino-2-ethoxy-5-nitrobenzoic acid is a triazole derivative that is used as an anti-ulcer drug. It has been shown to be effective in treating gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers by inhibiting the conversion of nitrate to nitrite, which is necessary for the formation of stomach acid. 4-amino-2-ethoxy-5-nitrobenzoic acid also has antihistamine activity, but its greatest effect is on the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. It inhibits the enzyme cinitapride, which is involved in the metabolism of other drugs such as prazosin and terazosin. 4-amino-2-ethoxy-5-nitrobenzoic acid does not have any known biological activity in its aromatic ring.
