Description:

N-(3-Aminomethyl-phenyl)methanesulfonamide is a synthetic agonist of the vanilloid receptor. It has analgesic properties and can also act as an antagonist of the NMDA class of glutamate receptors. The phenolic hydroxyl group in this compound is able to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, which are important for its binding affinity. N-(3-Aminomethyl-phenyl)methanesulfonamide has been shown to have medicinal properties in hamster ovary cells, but not human ovary cells. This drug may be useful for treating chronic pain caused by inflammation or neuropathic pain.
