3-Allyloxy-4-Methoxybenzaldehyde is an epoxide that is the cyclization product of 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde and allyl alcohol. It has been shown to yield a number of products, including ring-opened forms of isovanillin and 4,5,6,7-tetrahydroisovanillin. This compound can be prepared from 2-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)benzaldehyde with sodium cyanide in the presence or absence of a base. 3-Allyloxy-4-Methoxybenzaldehyde can also be prepared by intramolecular sequence and yields a tricyclic molecule.
