Ammonium perrhenate(VII) is a compound with a boron nitride cluster. It has been found to be an effective catalyst for the thermal decomposition of hydrochloric acid and ammonia. Ammonium perrhenate(VII) has been shown to be a strong oxidant, which may be due to its ability to form free radicals in solution. The formation of free radicals can lead to the oxidation of water vapor, which in turn leads to the production of hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. Ammonium perrhenate(VII) also has coordination geometry group P2, which is octahedral. The molecule is composed of four benzyl groups and one rhenium atom. The x-ray diffraction data obtained from ammonium perrhenate(VII) have shown that it is crystalline solid with an isolated yield of 28%.
