Ammonium benzoate is a chemical compound that is composed of ammonium, carbonate, and benzoate. It has been used as a stabilizer in sodium citrate and sodium carbonate solutions and as an antimicrobial agent. Ammonium benzoate can be prepared by reacting benzimidazole with malonic acid, methyl ethyl ketone, or dimethyl fumarate in the presence of sodium hydroxide. This chemical is also used as a precursor for other compounds such as benzimidazole compounds. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of this compound shows that it is stable in water vapor at high temperatures, which makes it useful in the production of organic materials.
