Description:
3-Amino-4-methylbenzyl alcohol is a glycopeptide that has been used as a surrogate to evaluate the activity of other glycopeptides. It acts as a linker between the drug and a suitable skeleton, which can be obtained from various substances. 3-Amino-4-methylbenzyl alcohol has shown inhibitory activities against cancer cells in vitro. It is not known whether it inhibits bacterial growth. This compound binds to chloride ions, which may explain its potent inhibitory activity against cancer cells. 3-Amino-4-methylbenzyl alcohol is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver and excreted mainly through the kidneys.
