It can be synthesized by neutralizing 2,4,6-trichloropyridine with hydrobromic acid and reacting it with ammonia. It reacts with succinic anhydride to form 3,2'-dibromosuccinimide. The synthesis of this compound produces a logistic problem because it requires a large amount of pyridine as starting material.
