2-Amino-5-bromo-4-methylpyridine is an organic compound with the formula CH3C6H5NBr. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents. 2-Amino-5-bromo-4-methylpyridine can be synthesized from benzene and acetonitrile in high yield. It has been shown to be active against tuberculosis bacteria, as well as mycobacterium avium complex. This drug also has neuropathic pain relieving properties. 2-Amino-5-bromo-4-methylpyridine binds to the CB2 cannabinoid receptor and reacts with potassium tbutoxide to form an alkylating agent. This reaction can be catalysed by a base such as cb2 cannabinoid receptor.
