Synonyms:
  • 6-Iodopyrimidin-4-amine
  • 4-Amino-6-iodopyrimidine
Description:

4-Amino-6-iodopyrimidine is a synthetic compound that contains fluorine. It has been shown to exhibit tumour growth inhibition in vivo and in vitro. 4-Amino-6-iodopyrimidine has also been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes virus, and can be used for the treatment of this infection. This drug can be administered orally or through perfluorinated intravenous injection. 4-Amino-6-iodopyrimidine binds to the pharmacophore (a three dimensional representation of the chemical features that are responsible for the biological activity) on viral proteins, thereby inhibiting viral protein synthesis and cell growth.
