Description:

2-Amino-4-(trifluoromethyl)-5-pyrimidinecarboxylic acid is a multifunctional chemical that is used in the preparation of formaldehyde, ethanol, glycols and other chemicals. This compound can be produced by reacting formaldehyde with an acid ethyl ester such as isobutyl or 2-ethoxyethyl acetate. The product can also be synthesized from titanium tetrachloride and glycol. 2-Amino-4-(trifluoromethyl)-5-pyrimidinecarboxylic acid can be used to produce triethanolamine and tetraisopropyl amine, which are important intermediates for the production of other chemicals. It is also used in the preparation of deionized water and phosphorous acid.
