Description

(S)-(-)-2-Amino-3-methyl-1,1-diphenyl-1-butanol is an amine that can be used for the asymmetric synthesis of 1,4-benzoquinone. This compound has been shown to be an optimal condition for the preparation of primary amines, such as pyrrolidine and piperidine, in high yield. It was also found to have a chiral center. The (R) isomer is more soluble in organic solvents, while the (S) isomer is more soluble in water. The ester hydrochloride salt form of this compound has been isolated with a benzyl group and ethylene glycol.
