Description:
(R)-3-Amino-1,2-propanediol is an amide with a kinetic nucleophilic and divalent cationic functionalities. It reacts readily with DNA duplexes to form ternary complexes, which could be used as a linker in the synthesis of oligonucleotides with anticancer activity. The rate constant for the reaction of (R)-3-Amino-1,2-propanediol with DNA duplexes is about 10 times that of EDTA. FTIR spectroscopy experiments have shown that (R)-3-Amino-1,2-propanediol has a constant fluorescence assay at 340 nm and a viscosity of 2.5 cP at 20°C. Fatty acid esters of (R)-3-Amino 1,2 propanediol are also nitro compounds.
