(R)-4-Amino-2-methyl-1-butanol is a nitrile with allyl and asymmetric properties. It is used in the synthesis of terephthalic acid, which can be used to produce polyesters such as PET and PBT. (R)-4-Amino-2-methyl-1-butanol has been shown to have high efficiency and selectivity in the hydroformylation of crotononitrile to terephthalic acid. This nitrile also efficiently hydrogenates cyanide and phosphite intermediates, making it an efficient process for the production of terephthalic acid.
