Description:

4-Amino-2-fluorobenzonitrile (4AFB) is an anti-cancer drug that inhibits the androgen receptor. It targets the translocation of prostate cancer cells to other parts of the body by binding to DNA and inhibiting transcription. 4AFB has shown antiproliferative properties as well as cytostatic effects, which have been demonstrated in vitro on du145 cells. 4AFB also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and targeting proteins necessary for cell growth. This drug has a high affinity for and is metabolized by the liver, making it unsuitable for use in patients with liver disease. The pharmacokinetic properties of this drug are not clear; however, analogues of 4AFB have been developed that may be more suitable for administration in humans.
