Description

A stereoisomer of artemisinic acid and immediate precursor of artemisinin. This compound is a sesquiterpene lactone endoperoxide extracted from Artemisia annua L. Artemsinin is highly effective against multi-drug resistant strains of the malarial parasite Plasmodium spp. but is in short supply. It provides a potentially cost effective, environmentally friendly and high-quality source of artemisinin.
