ACTH (1-14) is a synthetic analog of ACTH, which is a cyclic peptide hormone. It is used to stimulate the production of adrenal hormones. ACTH (1-14) has been shown to inhibit the cyclase activity of adenyl cyclase and to have an inhibitory effect on the synthesis of steroids by porcine zona fasciculata cells. ACTH (1-14) has also been shown to have a maximal stimulatory effect on the production of cortisol in pig adrenal glands.
ACTH (1-14) can be synthesized chemically or recombinantly.
