Description:
Anemarsaponin C is a liquiritin apioside, which belongs to the class of chemical structures called morphogenetic proteins. It has been shown to have anti-depressant effects in clinical studies. Anemarsaponin C has also been shown to improve mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibit lipid peroxidation (a type of metabolic reaction that produces reactive oxygen species). The major metabolites of anemarsaponin C are saponins and fatty acids. This compound is found in plants such as Platycodon grandiflorum, where it has been shown to reduce the incidence of depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
