Description

Acetaldoxime is a chemical compound that is used as a fast-acting antidote for poisoning by organophosphate nerve agents. Acetaldoxime binds to the phosphorylcholine of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine and relieving muscle paralysis. Acetaldoxime can be used in biological treatment processes to remove nitrogenous wastes from wastewater, such as methyl ethyls or hydroxyl groups.
