3-Aminopropyldimethoxymethylsilane is a reactive fluid with a high surface tension and low viscosity. It has methoxy groups on the surface, which makes it suitable for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. 3-Aminopropyldimethoxymethylsilane may be used to coat metal surfaces, as well as to form fatty acid esters or hydrogen bonds with other molecules. This compound has been shown to have optical properties that are different from those of water, and can therefore be used in fluorescence measurements and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
