Product Information
- 3,5-Dibromo-6-methylpyridin-2-amine
- 2-Amino-3,5-Dibromo-6-Methylpyridinium
2-Amino-3,5-dibromo-6-methylpyridine is an organic chemical reagent that has been used in the preparation of hydrogen peroxide. It can be prepared by the reaction of 2-amino-5-bromopyridine and 3,5-dichloropyridinium chloride in sulfuric acid with a catalytic amount of sulfuric acid. The compound has been found to react with hydrogen peroxide to form a planar molecule. This process is followed by emission of light at a wavelength of about 400 nm and was observed through spectroscopy. 2-Amino-3,5-dibromo-6-methylpyridine can also be produced from dimers or from residues of dichloromethane. The environment may be contaminated due to the release of hydrogen peroxide during the production process and use as an intermediate. Hydrogen bonds are formed between molecules in this substance,
