2-Allyl-6-fluorophenol is used as a starting material for the synthesis of organic compounds. It can be obtained by reacting 2-bromo-6-fluorophenol with allyl bromide in the presence of a base. This reaction produces two isomers, 2-(2'-propene)phenol and 2-(2'-isopropenyl)phenol, which are separated by filtration. The yield of this reaction is dependent on the type of solvent used. Hydrocarbon solvents produce higher yields than water or alcohols. This compound can also be synthesized from alkoxybenzenes using peroxide or hydroperoxide.
