Aluminium hexafluorosilicate is a peroxide that is used as an antibacterial agent and binder. It has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria, including nitrate-reducing organisms such as Clostridium perfringens, and also inhibits the growth of some fungi and yeast. Aluminium hexafluorosilicate is used in low concentrations with other binders for the formulation of paper, textiles, paint, plastics, rubber, and cement. In higher concentrations it can be used as a disinfectant or sterilizer.
