The compound can be used in electrochemical modification, optical applications, and as a fluoride source. Ammonium tetrafluorostibanuide can be used to make metal fluorides, such as nickel fluoride (NiF2) and platinum fluoride (PtF2). When heated to high temperatures, ammonium tetrafluorostibanuide decomposes into ammonia and hydrogen fluoride gas (HF).
