N-Acetyl-3-Fluoro-Phenylalanine (NAPFA) is a result of the chemical synthesis of the amino acid phenylalanine. NAPFA has been synthesized by reacting 3-fluoroaniline with acetamide and methanol in a pressure tube, which yields a white crystalline solid. The synthesis yielded an approximate yield of 95%. This compound has been shown to have use as an immobilization agent for the preparation of proteins and enzymes, binding sites, and kinetic data. NAPFA has also been shown to be an inhibitor of amido amidases, analogous to other inhibitors such as carbamoyl phosphate or pyridoxal phosphate.
