2-Amino-5-trifluoromethylbenzamide is a chemokine antagonist that binds to the CXC chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2). This binding prevents the activation of the receptor and blocks the production of inflammatory mediators. It has been shown to inhibit chemotaxis in murine models, which may be due to its incorporation into lipid membranes or carboxamide groups. The affinity of this drug for CXCR2 was increased by distal benzylamine substitutions.
