Product Information

Name:
2-Amino-5-Fluoro-3-Methylbenzenethiol
Description:

2-Amino-5-fluoro-3-methylbenzenethiol is a reactive compound that can form peroxides when exposed to air and light. It is used as a starting material in the synthesis of sulfones, which are used as antiseptics and antibiotics. The reaction of 2AAMB with potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide solution produces formylsulfones, which can be converted to other sulfones by reacting with nitrous acid. 2AAMB reacts with hydrogen peroxide at neutral pH to produce a mixture of formaldehyde and formic acid. It also reacts with elemental sulfur to produce polysulfanes. This compound has been shown to react intramolecularly and supramolecularly.
