Product Information
4-Amino-5-Fluoro-2(1H)-Pyrimidinethione is a monomer that has been shown to have antiviral activity. It inhibits herpes simplex virus by competing for the binding site on the viral envelope glycoprotein, gB. This drug also inhibits leukemic cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in tumor cells. The dichroism spectra of this compound show two tautomeric forms: one with a negative sign and one with a positive sign. The chloride anion has been shown to be necessary for the formation of 4-amino-5-fluoro-2(1H)-pyrimidinethione's tautomeric form with a negative sign, which is more active against herpes simplex virus than its other tautomeric form.
