3-Amino-2-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)pyridine is a monomer that is used in the manufacture of crosslinked polymers. It has been shown to have a low viscosity and high solubility in water, making it suitable for use as an electrolyte in absorbent products such as tampons and diapers. 3-Amino-2-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)pyridine has also been used to make superabsorbent polymers that are used in ophthalmic surgery and cataract surgery.
