Acetyl-[4-(4-fluorophenyl)phenyl]amino hydrogen sulfate (AFDAP) is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to the active form, 4-(4-fluorophenyl)phenylamine (FPAP), in vivo. It is used as an animal drug for the treatment of juvenile animals and has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. The mechanism of action for AFDAP is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to react with reactive oxygen species such as hydroxamic acids and imine nitrogen, which are two major reactive metabolites found in carcinogenic processes.
