It has been shown to have good optical properties and can be used as a coating on different surfaces such as glass or metal. 8-(Allyloxy)-1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5 5 6-tridecafluorooctane also has a high refractive index which makes it useful for the manufacture of lenses for glasses or cameras. The chemical is also used in the production of polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) that are used for coatings and in laser applications.
