3-Amino-4-Fluoro-2-Methoxy-N-[2-[(2-Methylcyclopropyl)Amino]Ethyl]Benzamide (3AFEBA) is a potent, noncompetitive inhibitor of the human cytochrome P450 1A1 enzyme. 3AFEBA has been shown to inhibit the growth of murine sarcoma viruses in cell culture and to have regulatory activity in cells. It inhibits adenyl cyclase in an allosteric fashion, inhibiting the production of cyclic AMP. 3AFEBA also inhibits the synthesis of aromatic hydrocarbons, which may be responsible for its anticancer properties. Studies have shown that 3AFEBA inhibits human liver cytochrome P450 enzymes and may cause liver toxicity at high doses. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth factor TGFβ and is effective against breast cancer cells that are resistant to other chemotherapeutic agents.
