Phenylthiohydantoin-isoleucine is a molecule that is present in the body as an endogenously synthesized amino acid. It is composed of the amino acid phenylthiohydantoin and alloisoleucine. Phenylthiohydantoin-isoleucine has a molecular weight of 266.2g/mol and a constant of 2.5E+5g/mol. It has a tryptic sequence with two isomers, A-PTHI and P-PTHI. This molecule has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties through its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes for example COX-1 and COX-2.
