Product Information
- Benzyltri-N-Propylammonium Chloride
- Benzyltripropylammonium Chloride
- benzyl Tripropyl Ammoonium Chloride
- N-benzyl-N,N-dipropylpropan-1-aminium chloride
Benzyltri-n-propylammonium chloride is an organic compound that has a cationic ammonium group and a chloride anion. It is used as a catalyst in the production of polyols from polyhydric alcohols, such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and glycerol. The ammonium group makes benzyltri-n-propylammonium chloride a strong acceptor of hydrogen bonds. It also has high viscosity and solubility in water. Benzyltri-n-propylammonium chloride is not reactive with most substances because of its ionic nature but can be activated by certain functional groups, like carbonyl groups or hydroxyl groups.
