Product Information
Tetrahydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (THDA) is a natural product that has been isolated from the bark of the African tree, Ficus racemosa. It is a major component of the plant's leaves and stems. THDA has shown to have antimicrobial activity against a number of bacterial species and fungi in vitro. Studies have also found that THDA inhibits protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). This enzyme plays an important role in regulating insulin levels, glucose uptake, and fat metabolism. THDA has been shown to inhibit PTP1B-mediated inhibition of insulin signaling pathways in vivo.
