Description:

2,4-Dimethyl-benzothiazole is an organic compound that is used as a dyestuff. It is produced by the reaction of malonic acid with thiophene and alkylene in the presence of quaternary ammonium salts, such as tetraethylammonium chloride. The product can be purified through solid phase synthesis. 2,4-Dimethyl-benzothiazole is a benzothiazole derivative with two methyl groups on the benzene ring at positions 2 and 4. It can also be synthesized from perchloric acid and benzothiazole which are cyclic compounds that contain four rings.
2,4-Dimethyl-benzothiazole has been shown to have good solubility in water and low toxicity.
