Description:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-Octahydrophenanthrene is a mixture of naphthalene and anthracene that is obtained from the distillation of coal tar. It has been used as a magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent and in the synthesis of other organic compounds. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-Octahydrophenanthrene has been shown to be an effective inhibitor for oxidation reactions at temperatures up to 350°C. This compound also has a viscosity of 0.99 Pa·s at 25°C and a hydrogenated form with a viscosity of 2.1 Pa·s at 25°C.
