Product Information
- Cyclohexanone, 2- (hydroxymethyl)-
- 2-Hydroxy Methyl cyclohexanone
2-(Hydroxymethyl)cyclohexanone is a thermally and chemically stable compound. It is acetylated by lipase to form 2-hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid, an antimuscarinic agent with histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitory activity. The chiral center in this molecule can be selectively acetylated by a-ring-selective acetic acid catalysts. This compound has been shown to be neuroprotective against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. 2-(Hydroxymethyl)cyclohexanone also has the ability to act as a monomer in the cycloaddition process to form polymers with other molecules, such as hexafluoroisopropanol, which are used in semiconductor manufacturing.
