Description:

5-Nitro-2-piperidin-1-ylaniline is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHNO. It is a white solid that is soluble in water. 5NPY was synthesized and tested for its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, and yeast. The results of the experiment were promising, as 5NPY successfully inhibited the growth of all three microorganisms. In vitro studies showed that 5NPY disrupted the cell membrane of bacterial cells by reacting with fatty acids on their surface. This reaction caused the cell membrane to become leaky and eventually rupture. 5NPY also showed antibacterial activity against Gram negative bacteria and some Gram positive bacteria, but not against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Staphylococcus aureus.
