Diethyl 3-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylate is an industrial chemical that is used in the synthesis of carbamates. It has been shown to be a grignard reagent and nucleophile with alkaline conditions. Diethyl 3-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylate can also be used to synthesize halogenated compounds for use as antitumor drugs. The multistep process of synthesizing brivanib includes the use of diethyl 3-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylate.
